Saw a new one today. So ive worked on a lot of older outboards but have never seen a 2 stroke where the oil has its own gas jug not mixed with the gas.... Why? The Johnson ill be picking up takes a separate container for the oil. Im assuming this means I cant pre mix the gas correct?

Its this website, it does duplicate posts often.
You can just unplug the vro and put on a standard fuel pump. Lots of people do as a failure in the oil setup seizes the motor. Happens frequently

If it happened all that frequently I'd imagine the manufacturers would quit building engines with VROs. I've done a bit of reading on this and from what I've found it sounds like VROs are pretty darned reliable. Sometimes an engine will have had ONE piston scored from lack of lubrication and it's blamed on the VRO. But think about it, if the VRO had failed you'd see ALL cylinders have symptoms, not just one.

Ok cool ill just throw on a new fuel pump then cuz I have 3 gas tanks of pre mix already haha. Is it possible to just plug off the oil line and run pre mix or do I need to get a new pump?
