2 water seperator filters

I have a '90 230 Proline with a 225 Yamaha. There is a water seperator filter in the bilge and one at the outboard. Should I remove the one in the bilge, is this dangerous. I have no idea why there are 2 of them. Thanks for the help.

not sure why there are 2..but I do not see how it could be dangerous in any way..
