So I am looking at a 20' Mirrocraft deep v boat to use as a tender boat for duck hunting. I was talking to the guy about the boat, and he said he replaced the floor and the foam a couple years back. I asked what kind of foam he used, and he told me he had a buddy who sprayed isulation foam in houses and they had sprayed the whole hull under the floor with the stuff... So am I basically screwed if I buy the boat? I know that foam isn't the right stuff to use, but how long does it last before it starts to break down and soak up water? Thanks, Jim

Re: 20' aluminum hull foam?

Dear Jim, I have a 17 ft. alum. tracker bass boat and that has the spray in foam its yellow. I worked for a company back in the mid 80s and we sprayed the same foam in side the semi trailors. My boat is a 1988 I am fixing it up due to a accident we had. I started taking the foam out the other day and it was not water logged at all, it was dry and i had water in it in October checking the rivets that leaked. Started taking the foam out on 12/18/10. Need anything else just pm me Thanks Dave.
