Hello:
I have a 20hp mercury that have seen better days. It's been setting for several years and when I got it the first thing that I did was rebuilding the carburetor and installing a new water pump followed by new spark plugs. I'd finally got it running but is missing and suspect the linkage adjustment has been tampered with. I got the seloc manual and it calls for setting the #1 piston in tdc, install a dial indicator and turn the crankshaft counterclockwise for .196 then install an ohmmeter and set the throttle control linkage when the ohmmeter indicates the maker points just CLOSED.
Quetion is: Where do I hook my ohmmeter up to find out the state of the contact points?
BTW, this is a Model 200, 20hp mercury with a type II ignition system, 1972 model.
TIA.
