20 hp evinrude pull cord break

how complicated a project is replacing the pull cord on an out board. mine pulled out this week.
Also, i cant seem to find the model serial or manufacture date anywhere on the engine. there are some numbers stamped into the transom mount. thanks

Not to hard, Joe Reeves has a good tutorial on it. If he doesn't chime in PM him.
Look on the transom clamp, there should be a metal plate with the model and serial number on it.

yeah my 6 hp evinrude has the billet plate but this one doesn't
