20 HP Mercury -- no spark

1979 Mercury 20 HP electric start has new switchbox. Can not get spark. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,<br />Kill switch is stuck or you may have a bad trigger or a broken trigger wire.

Will a key switch from a riding lawn mower work for a key switch for a MERCURY 20 HP or do I need to get the right switch?

You did not mention whether or not you have controls from the front of the boat...or if you start the engine from directly off the front of the engine.<br /><br />If you can start it via a control box at the front of the boat, disconnect the large cable that runs to the engine. Once this is done, put a spark checker of some kind on the engine and pull it over by hand. This will illiminate the switch and kill wires.<br /><br />TMD
