a few weeks ago i posted about my year 2000 175 johnson motor starting and idling but choking out and not being able to run unless the bulb was being pump and then it ran fine as long as someone was doing it. It would run normal except the alarm would come on and of course i would shut it down.I rebuilt the fuel pump with a OEM kit and just took it to the lake and its doing the same thing. The bulb still has to be pumped for it to be able to get up on plane and run.It will start fine. A buddy who helped me rebuild the fuel pump now thinks it may be a pulse limiter. What are your thoughts? What else could it be if it runs as long as the bulb is being pumped.

I would expect your motor to have a vapor separator and vapor pump. These are essential to pump fuel into the OMS pump.

You might inspect vapor separator float, inlet needle and seat, float adjustment and cover gasket. You might rebuild vapor pump.

Is the vapor separator the same thing as a carb? I took this to my local marine service center and the first thing they said is gotta rebuild all six carbs which will be $900! But they won’t guarantee that’s what it is I feel like I’m prolly going to just be doing stuff that’s not related to the problem

No the vapor separator is part of the fuel bracket, bolted to the OMS pump. Look at the crowleymarine website for your motor and inspect the fuel bracket.

Its just a housing and reservoir and only the cover has any moving parts. You wont need it and you need to test VRO by the chart.....

gee, I looked at the picture on Crowley just before I posted. Sounds like you should get a OEM Service Manual. It will have a picture....
