Go to the red search at the top of the page and enter FICHT. Lots of info.

There is another area on this site somewhere on the FICHT but they seemed to hav emoved it. Look around.

Many don't know a well kept secret - FICHT rimes with lemon.

Searching the archives I haven't found many whos motors actually blew up! One or two injector fires, three or so power heads. But this one looks like it blew a rod or something. I'll find out next week I hope exactly what happened. I have owned two 1999 90HP fichts that performed flawlessly, and performed exceptionally well. Seams I should of kept them!

fishingmaniac,

Your experience is not uncommon. Many folks have had, and still do, have fine performance and longevity from the V-4 Ficht units.

The early model, upper end V-6's, developed a somewhat tarnished reputation.

Re: 200 Evinrude 225 Ficht Blew Up - Bang!

Ended up replacing the power head for around $7000 cause I did a lot of the work myself in pulling it , packing it and shipping it off to be replaced with a new block which they moved all the old equipment over to. I've put almost 300 hours on it (and the older one of the twins) without any managable problems. EMM's needed upgrade due to no spark (a known problem) fixable with a upgrade of a capacitor. They did other upgrades as well. Also seem to have a lift pump going. It's a boat.....
