I bought a used boat that has a 1999 Evinrude 200 Ficht on it. The guy gave me some Yamalube 2W oil that I guess he was using in it... After s3earching out this oil and looking into to blogs I believe he used the wrong oil.. The boat still runs fine but now I need to know what to do to get the old oil out and the new oil in. I'm still using the injector pump and small oil tank that came with the motor. And should I still use the pump at all or should I being adding the oil to the gas myself??? I heard that they had bad problems with some of these injector pumps awhile back... Can I jsut clean out the gas hose and oil from this tank and put in XD-50 oil or is there more that I should do???

Re: 200 Evinrude Ficht Oil questions

You can't add gas to the oil and expect more than an hour or two of engine life. The oil would never see the crankcase, since the fuel only is injected directly into the combustion chamber (i.e. DI). XD50 oil is fine, but no need to go anal on this. Just let the oil level get lower than 50% and start filling with XD50 oil.

Someone's going to be the first to try to run one of these DI motors on premix with disastrous results and admit to it!

Don't even THINK of messing with the oil system on this mtr. Do as Wilde said and add oil to your tank as the level goes down with XD50 unless you want a fried mtr.

Re: 200 Evinrude Ficht Oil questions

Thanks for the info. I did a lot more research last nite and I see how it all works now.. Is the XD-50 oil the best oil to use in the Ficht motors???? Or is there a better oil to use, I want to use the best there is Price is not a problem. I want this motor to last !
Thanks again.

Re: 200 Evinrude Ficht Oil questions

For the third time, use XD50 ... it's clearly the best for your motor.
