Working on a 1976 200 Evinrude i got for $250 it has good compression #1 95, #2 100, #3 90, #4 95, #5 #90, #6 95....i'll probably do a decarb or pull the head and clean the carbon and get a look inside..the past couple of motors i have built the rod bolts have been stretched pretty bad, granted i did install new ones, i am wondering how long these will last if they are infact stock ??
I have the 2 stock fuel pumps comming for it as well as a factory manual , the previous owner removed and lost them, and put a little electric pump on that floods pretty easy...went through the carbs today and i have to say they are the cleanest i've seen in a while pretty much spotless...only one had a problem one of the screws on the blades in the throat of the carb is missing, it only has 1 screw instead of two..i wonder if the local hardware store would carry anything that small...
When the fuel pumps get here i'm going to try to crank it, i have done a spark test and all have good strong spark but number one, it has no spark, i guess i can take one from another cylinder and swap it out and see if its the coil... thanks for any input
