2004 200 hpdi blows control fuse for o2 heater/injector circuits.every sensor, relay, and switch have been tested for correct operation. problem has been isolated to either injector driver or ecu. these units are very pricey and any info or like situations would really help.

how often does it blow? is it repeatable with any regularity?
the 04 model has 0ne ECU and two drivers.

Re: 200 hpdi blows fuse

was told by yamaha that this is a 04 but mod. # says it is an 03. there is one ecu and one driver unit. the fuse will blow as soon as the key switch circuit is energized. disconnecting the ecu plug or the driver plug one at a time will stop the fuse from popping but that is because the power is being disconnected. yamaha said to replace ecu and driver but this seems crazy that there is not a set process to isolate a component failure of this type.

Re: 200 hpdi blows fuse

its most definatly older than 04.
the 04 and up used two drivers.
so far we have had more issues with the single driver and not the ECU.
the ECU does not use much power, it simply controls the driver. my bet would be on the driver or an injector wire/harness.
its difficult to break into the power feed wires but not impossible.
that way you can look at current draw for the ECU and the Driver.
but no, other than swapping parts there are no real good tests.
I have an advantage over a lot because of the training and prcticle use of that training as an FC in the Navy.
CIWS techs tend to get a lot of hands on stuff :).
its hard to believe both the ECU and Driver failed.
I would try to study the harness diagram and look for anything common between them in the circuit.
if I get a chance in the next few days Ill try to hunt a bit.
