2000 model, has had regular dealer service. Problem started small and has progressively worsened. At first I was noticing a small "miss" if I came down off a swell a little hard. It was so brief I wasn't even sure if I was hearing it, however it worsened to where there was a noticeable pause. It continued to run perfectly fine 99% of the time, so while waiting to get it into the dealer, I took it out again, and now if I was out in any chop or swell it would not come up on a plane; at about 3000 rpm it would sputter and buck like it was running out of gas. Once back in the harbor in smooth water, it ran perfectly again. Tried changing/cleaning the fuel filter and water seperators, but now it won't even get up on plane in the harbor. Dealer has put it on the computer, but nothing shows up there. It sounds like they may be stumped...anyone here got any ideas? I've gone through 4 months of posts here, but couldn't find anything similar.

sure ya can<br /> clean the4 VST filter and replace the medium pressure filter. if no codes aare stored its not something the computer sees as a fault. I have also seen the key on 12v pow wire break in the harness and do this. but first check the fuel system. to many dealers never service those filters cause its a pain. but its a nessasary pain.

I assume that means I can find a similar problem here, and I did. I just had to go back a few more months. Did a search for "VST Filter" and lo and behold:<br /><br />"My engine started acting up last year in which it would hesitate or drop RPM's for a very short instant, after hitting a boat wake or wave, then resume just fine. Some days each and every wake or large wave would show this hesitation, and at speed, would make you lunge forward in the boat."<br /><br />Sounds familiar!!! I'll call the dealer tomorrow and let them know what I found out. Thanks a million rodbolt. I'll let you know how it turns out.

the two filters and a gasket will set ya back some change. they aint cheap baby. I think the vst filter is about 90 and the inline filter is about 150 and the gasket is about 25. also on the medium pressure filter use the factory type clamp. worm clamps are NOT an acceptable subsitute even though many shops use them. takes about 45 min to clean/change the vst filter. if its not damaged its reusable.

Fishquest: I believe that was me with that issue you quoted.<br /><br /> Yes, it was my VST filter being clogged. I did it myself too !!<br /><br />Good Luck,<br /><br />John
