i have a 200 johnson venom. i had the boat put up for the winter. Got it out and it did great the first time on the water. The 2nd time out my alarm went off and the check engine light came on. it did it off and on all day. its not the oiler, water pump. what i did notice was when i would trim the motor the voltage meter would go from the positive to way over in the negitive. the alarm and light goes on and off. it is not steady. any one got an answer?

Bad connections at battery or ground on engine, if you have wing nuts on battery replace them with lock-nuts.

the alarm and light goes on and off.

Check oil in oil tank or wiring for vermin damage. It not a t-stat sticking as it would be triggering pack into SLOW.

thanks for your reply. I'm sure its not thr oiler. I premix. the oiler has been disconnect every since I owned the boat. worked great last summer. I guess i will go hunting a bad connection or a ground on the motor. i do have wing nuts ..... but they won't be there in the morning. Thanks again.:)

Check engine light on a Systems Check tach means a fuel restriction exists between the fuel pump and the tank. Primer bulb going flat? If so, restriction is from bulb back to tank, including the anti-siphon valves and tank pickup as possibilities. Use a different gas can (3/8" line all the way) to try to eliminate...
