I have a 200hp merc 1986 model, it has a small plate on the lower right side of the engine (looking toward prop) it has a small hole in the lower part of this plate which has two small bolts holding it in place. I assume this to be some sort of weep hole since it it leaking water. This engine has been modified and has no restrictive covers over the carbs, this causes my engine to pick up water that is inside the cowling. Could someone please explain what this may be and what is needed to repair it. Thanks,

buddy8097

Shouldn't be any water leaking INSIDE the cowling.
I think the carbs don't have any covers or air filters. Are you sure it hasn't sprung some sort of corrosion leak ?
What is the Serial no of the motor ?

hello
the weep hole is the vent for the pressure relief diaphram. you need at least a new diaphram and the 2 gaskets to replace it. good luck and keep posting

yeah they call that the poppet valve. Look for leaks at the weep hole.
