I have a 1991 Merc 200 Hp Offshore two stroke and it started to overheat today. I took out the thermostats and boiled them and they open but will replace them anyways. I removed the lower unit and the inpellor looks ok but I will replace that as well. What I"m wondering is what kit to get? I looked in the parts section and couldn't find the one for my unit. My serial number is OD007952. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what waterpump kit and thermostats to order? Thanks

Call a Merc dealer or get in touch with iboats sales and ask them.

Rebuild or at least inspect the poppet valve. If you want an impeller-only kit, they are pretty universal. If you want the upper waterpump cover and/or the base, you need a specific kit number. Maxrules.com will verify the year of the motor, using the serial number. Crowleymarine.com will have the kit number, indexed by year and HP.

Thanks for the tips. Picked up a full kit and put it in. Looks like it was a low oil alarm and not an overheat! Alarm went away now but not sure what I did so I put oil in the gas just in case.
