My 1999 200 hp Merc. EFI seems to run alittle hot however no alarms go off. The motor used to run about 140 degrees and only fluctuate from that temp slightly. I noticed the other day that the temp is going up to about 180. I changed the thermostats and the temp. still goes up. Should I change the impeller or is this temp OK?

Re: 200 overheat ?

Be wise. Take it as a sign of an impeller getting worn and replace it.
Much rather do it at a time & place of your own choise than at some weird point when it suddenly fails completely :(

As a free bonus you even will aviod overheating which can cause severe damage.

I'll put money on the pump being the problem. New impeller will likely fix you up. Always start there first. 180 is not damaging hot, but it has no place to go but up if the impeller is worn.
