200 yamaha lower unit crack

My 1996 200 yamaha has a one eight inch wide, three inch long crack in the lower unit. The crack in on the fluted part near where the prop is attached. i put some JB weld on the crack and ran the motor about 20 hours with no problem. my question is can the crack be welded? suggestions please.

Yes it can, but not likely to cure problem caused by corrosion. Next the case will split and send prop and shaft to the bottom. Long term cure is to replace the housing.

Thanks Ray. That is what I was afraid of. Any idea of where to get a used housing?
