I have twin 150's on my boat and one fuel management system gauge.
The guage is tied to the key switch of the left engine. When trolling I swap from one engine to the other about every half hour to balance fuel and hours. What I want to know is when the key switch that is tied to the gauge is shut off, is the system still monitoring my fuel use. If not then how can I fix this issue? Second question. This system only shows the fuel I use is there a way to show fuel remaining. The electronic guage do not seem at all acurate. Thanks

the FFM and the speedometer need to be hooked to the same keyswitch. Yamaha does make a diode kit to allow either keyswitch as long as its wired correctly and no one has added anything to the engine harness.
no, if the meter is off it quits monitoring fuel. I dont think the older FFM can monitor remaining fuel but it will monitor fuel used which can be more accurate than remaining fuel.
fuel guages in boats are notoriously inaccurate at times.
never trust one.

Mine is wired with the left key has the ffm and the right key has the speed. I have a toggle switch in the middle I can go to monitor either side while both engines are running. If one key is off then the rpm gauge and the above mentioned gauge goes off. I am not sure how to verify this
