Can you use deep cycle batterys on a Johnson 175 outboard

Are you refering to a "deep cycle" battery JJB? If so, yes you can but a cranking battery would be better choice.

Deep Cycle batteries are not intended for "starting" purposes unless they are specifically labeled "Marine Starting/Deep Cycle".

I was asking about deep cycle and Johnson Charging systems because I had a force before and they did not want you to use deep cycle type battery . I was going to use 1 starting and one deep cycle /starting type with a slector sw. and isolator . any input on a so call best deep cycle /starting type battery out there to use ? I been using exide marine starting batteries over the years seem work ok . I have found the best method is to just replace every 3 seasons . Thank's for the input !
