2000 350 Mag MPI Horizon
Serial # 0L673252

Started my engine to come home from the beach yesterday, sounded funny-screaching noise, took a second look, only thing moving was the harmonic balancer! Then I saw the smoke coming off the belt and shut it down. After it cooled I was able to pull it off, I believe my fresh water pump is on it's way out, fortunately I was able to "free it up" by putting some pressure on it by hand. Gonna rebuild the pump and get a new belt (as soon as I measure the dia. of the alt. pulley  )

Question is: How do I adjust the tension on this belt? I undid all the bolts for the alternator and the upper rollers/pulleys, I couldn't find any "slotted" holes where I'd get some adjustment. I know cars are easy, a big socket and ratchet and there's a "tension spring" or whatever it's called.

Advice needed for new belt installation..... Thanks in advance

The belt tensioner adjust the belt so that when it is old and stretches it is still tight.

MooseHootie,

I can't locate a belt tensioner OR any slotted holes to make the old prybar type of adjustment with.......

Seems everything just bolts into place!
