2000 Bayliner 1950 - What is the Fuel Sender Ohm Range

The next issue I have is with the fuel gauge

I have tested the sender and the resistance doesnt change from around 1/3 of the way down the pipe so the sender is knackered.

Can someone tell me what resistance the replacement one should be?

Currently it shows around 20ohm at full and goes to about 36ohm at the 1/3 mark.

1/2 tank is about 109 ohms. Is this a new problem or has it always acted that way? It is very possible the wrong sender is installed (one with an arm that is too short) so it reaches the bottom of its travel with a great deal of fuel remaining. Remove the sender and measure from the bottom of the float to the bottom of the mounting flange. Now measure the tank depth. If the first measurement is way short of the second, the float is not dropping far enough or the arm is not long enough, or the sender itself is too short. The sender is obviously operating properly because 36 ohms is the full resistance and 240 ohms is very near the empty resistance so the problem is with the travel of the arm vs tank depth. Last but not least is to check the gauge. It may be sticking at the 1/3 level regardless what the sender is telling it.

If you have an analog meter make sure it's calibrated.. that one threw me for a loop :facepalm:
