My engine cover for my Bayliner Capri has started to rot and is no longer solid. I was curious if anyone has experience on how hard it would be to replace or if anyone happens to know where I could get it done/ order a new one. The padding itself on it is in good condition it's just the wood underneath that is bad.

I've done it with another boat on the doghouse, and on my Bayliner I've done it with one of the rear seats: remove the vinyl, padding, the liners, etc. very carefully. Use the old wood as a template to cut new wood, and reapply the "stuff."

Even the doghouse was just a few hour job and I'm not really that good with woodworking.

As mentioned above, use the old boards as a template. I have done the same with my seats and the doghouse is this winters project. 1/4 inch marine grade plywood, a staple gun with plenty of 1/4inch staples, and stainless fasteners for hinges and hardware. I could think of worse ways to spend an afternoon and at a fraction of the cost of getting one made.
