Hi:
I have a problem figuring how to flush it after saltwater use. My engine runs fine.

Here's the problem:
- I hook up the water muffs, and start the engine. After about 30-40 seconds, there is still no water coming out of the pea hole. In the lake water, this works fine, there is a stream of water coming out within 10 seconds
- I thought maybe I didn't do it right; so I put a bucket (actually a large cooler) full of water under the engine, and started it. The entire prop is submerged, and so are the water intake grill openings. Still no water coming out of the pee hole.
- I take it to the lake, drop in, start it, and the stream is shooting out good.

Question: What is the best way to flush the motor after saltwater use?

1. Is there a connector for garden hose hook-up that I can flush without running the engine?

2. What am I doing wrong?

There is another thread related to this, except header spelling was wrong (Fichr instead of Ficht), so I'm starting a new thread.

thanks,

I figured it out. The muffs were not completely tight, and once I got one from a friend that is tightly sealed, it worked just fine.

Thanks.

you can also flush your motor via the flush post where the "pee hole" is, you just unscrew the plastic "thingy" and screw in a standard hose fitting, but it is not designed to run the motor with this method, though plenty do, good tight fitting flushers are the best option, or the other way if it is late at night and you do not want any noise.
