2000 Evinrude Ficht Stumbling at at all RPM

Hello,

I have a 2000 150 evinrude Ficht. It seems to be stumbling or hesitating at all RPM's. Seems to do it idling and running. It also seems to have a fuel knock. Are Injectors on these engines a common failure?? It feels like it is a lack of feul issue. Filters are all good. Also run a Racor S3213 in line. I have had it into the shop and even had the mechanic come for a ride with the Laptop hooked up and OF COURSE DOESN"T DO IT. Any advice or sense of direction would be great. Looking to go off shore hunting halibut and want no issues. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!!

ficht are not user friendly for service. take it back to the shop.

Check your battery connections first. I have seen the stators on these not put out the required 40v and capacitor failures .

Have checked all batrtery connections. Ran fine for about half our. Then all of a sudden started stumbling?????? Could ECm causing problem whengets hot???? THANKS

What is the battery voltage when engine is running?? If it is over 14.5 disconnect rectifier for a few minutes and retest( just remove red wire from solenoid)if problem goes away ohm stator ,if within specs replace rectifier. Could be a emm problem also. If need to send off, send to to DFI technologys for repair.

I have a 2000 2600 striper with twin 2000 150 evinrude ficht outbaords. I bought the boat brand new with the engines as a package. Almost from the start I had issues exactly like you are describing. After numerous trips to multiple repair shops it was finally diagnosed as a perforated diaphram in the pick up pump. I had the issue fixed and discontinued using any type of injector addative because i believe this was the cause of the problem. The cleaner was eating away the material used to make the diaphram. BRP has since changed the composition of the material.Case in point, once I stopped the addative and replace the diaphrams I had no issues for 3 years. Then I took it in for a service and the mechanic put in a mercury brand injector cleaner and bang! Both engines started acting up afetr just a few hours of running time. they are making a knocking noise. They are difficult to start and ofetn die when cold.

Hey, I am looking to purchase a 2000 150 evinrude, all and all do you think it is a good motor? Sounds like there are a few problems, but if you what the problems are it looks like you can deal with them accordingly. So are you going to change the diaphram again? Also can you tell by a picture if its a 2000 vs. a 1999? I would feel a little more comfortable knowing it was put out with BRP's QC rather than OMC's. Thanks for your time, I realize this isnt the best place for this post, but who knows better then people that own one, I've read ALOT of other threads regarding this.

I am not certain that you can distinguish a 99 form a 2000 from a photo. I doubt I could. As for a good motor? If the motor has had the BPR upgrades installed then you should be good to go. How many hours are on it? I have 900 on mine and they run great. My issues turned out to be electricl. At least that is what I see so far. I intend to run it hard this weekend. If it fails I will be back to you.
