2000 ficht 225 water pump problem?

I put up a post about a week ago because I had CEL on, so I toke it to a evinrude dealer they checked everything out and it was just missing the air box temp sensor(kind of weird) they said eveything else was fine well this weekend i toke it out and within 5 min CEL turned back on for a split sec and beeped and turned off. well my question is where can i get the software to check the codes my self? and also are these motors suppose to **** water in a soild stream my buddys opti's **** A solid strem of water where mine kind of splaters out the 2 back water ports, could I have a w/p problem??<br /><br />any help would be great...<br />thanks,

Your "**** water outlet" is between the two idle exhaust ports. Remove the plastic piece and you will probably find it plugged with sand. Don't loose the o-ring that should be inside the threads.<br /><br />The software and cable can be purchased from your dealer or very soon a version will be available from www.dfitechnologies.com.<br /><br />Water in the fuel filter can also trigger the Check Engine Lite, as can about 20 other items.

Also make sure the nozzle of the tell-tale (pisser) is not pointing straight at one of the exhaust relief ports, it could be spraying onto one of them and splattering all over, adjust it so it's facing straight out. But you will probably find it plugged also.

thanks guy, there was no o-ring in there so the little hole was just going where it wanted to. I put a o-ring in there going to check it now. also going to try putting a new fuel filter in there, and some new plugs the old plugs i pulled out looked really black like tons of fuel or oil, is that normal since it's a 2 storke?<br /><br />thanks,<br />Chris
