I'm working on a buddy's Sportjet (Tracker Pro Team 18 jet boat) and I've found that the towershaft is not going into neutral/startig position when in fact the remote control assembly is in neutral position. When this happens the engine is very hard starting, and I'm thinking it is due to the timing being thrown off because the towershaft is not in neutral/starting position.

My question is...If the return spring is not broken, how do I go about adjusting this so the towershaft goes into neutral position when the remote control assembly is in neutral position?

There is a jetski or PWC section they have some good guys there.
You need to ID the motor ?
90? 120? 200?

Sorry...this is a 120 SportJet. Also, I did a little tinkering last night and adjusted the throttle cable connector that actually moves the towershaft. Over time, this had developed a little play, once I adjusted it the towershaft went into position correctly and the ole girl fired right up!

I then adjusted the fuel/air mixture on the carbs and she is ready for testing on the lake/river. Other than being a typical 2 stroker she fires up within 20-30 seconds from a cold start and then will fire up with a bump of the key. I must have done something right! :)

Good for you!!
The air screws, set at 1 and 1/2 turn out and then adjust in the water, motor warm and in gear.
