Hi all. I am new to these forums and am a new boat owner as of a few weeks ago. I purchased a 2000 Glastron GX 180 SF w/ a 125hp Mercury Outboard. I have taken the boat out several times and am enjoying every moment of being out on the water.

The interior was not in the best of shape, although not horrible I would like to replace the upholstery and the carpet. I have been doing research the past few weeks and I think I am going to order the upholstery from www.copycatupholstery.com and replace it myself this coming fall/winter. I also would like to replace the old red carpet with something new. I plan on ordering carpet online and installing it myself. I have been able to find a lot of good posts and videos in regards to the carpet replacement and feel that I should be able to handle the task. Has anyone had experience with copycatupholstery? Would you recommend them? Know of any other cost effective solutions?

I would like suggestions on what color upholstery and carpet to get as the replacement. I was going to just get the same exact setup as it had but I don't think I want red carpet in the boat. I was thinking more along the lines of a tan color. I also got to thinking that the seats may look better in another color scheme or some sort of solid color. I am open to any and all suggestions. You can see the current interior in the photos I posted below. Keep in mind I can't remove the red from the outside of the boat. The camera on my phone is not the best so just ignore the pink hue.

I'm not to sure that your style of seats would lend themselves to "Self Installation" once CopyCat made the new covers. They are fairly sophisticated custom covers and require custom fitting in order for them to look right.

So I guess I may be stuck getting the work done by a local marine upholstery shop. I thought it may be difficult given the shape of the captains chairs. I found some photos of a guy who just got his 2000 Glastron upholstery done and I am loving the colors. He is in my area so I am awaiting a response as to who he used. I am just afraid the carpet and seats are going to cost me close to $3000 to get replaced if I have a local shop do all of the work... Does that seem about accurate? Here are the photos of the upholstery I like.

It is an interesting concept . . . sending your old upholstery skins in to a company and having them made. As Wood mentioned, the challenge will be the fitting process, but I see that as no different if you did the sewing yourself or a local shop did the sewing. The only drawback is that if they goofed up and sent you something that was so far off you could not work with it, then you might be in a 'mell of a hess', as I call it.

I did a quick search on the forum and on Google. . . nothing here on iBoats, but there are a couple of reviews that you can find on Google. Good, but not great was the review that I quickly found.

As I stated, your style of Captain seats really need to be fitted by the upholsterer OR by someone that understands how to install and staple the covers during the installation. I order to avoid wrinkles etc.. the installation process can be a bit tricky at times. I've done "Long Distance" upholstery and had the owner do the installation but most of the time it's been on Flat cushions etc. I'm pretty sure your style would not be that easy for a "Rookie" to install. A Pro Shop would in fact probably charge in the $2,000 to $3,000 range to re-upholster your boat.

Thank you all for the great information. The photos I posted above were done for $3500. Upholstery, carpet, and netting turn key. I am going to reevaluate how I would like to handle this. I may end up just having them do mine. Would be closer to the $3000 range as its a little bit of a smaller boat.
