I just recently bought a boat with a 2000 johnson 115 ocean pro. When I took it out for the first few times I noticed at first that the motor would hesitate or sometimes just stall out when trying to jump up on plain, but ran good at idle and at full speed. Soon after running it hard for weekends after I started to feel a hesitation in power when running at full speeds, being carefull I would come of a plain and the boat would stall and then start stall after that. I could sometimes get it to start by giving it some gas in neutral, but it would stall after trying to put it in gear. Because of a previous history of water in the gas which has been fixed I decided it could have been the carbs, so I rebuilt them. I put the boat on ears after getting it back together, and after about 15 mins everything seemed to be going good so I decided to rev it up a few times, after the boat lowered in rpms it stalled and kept during the same thing it was doing before. It will start and idle alright when the motor cools down but shortly after will stall again. I have checked the fuel water separator and even changed the filter everything looks clean, also tried to run some fuel treatment through the system, and put new spark plugs in. Any help would be appreciated work has been slow forcing me to try to do this on my own, thanks redfisher P.S. this last time on ears the oil light and siren came on so I shut the motor off and restarted and the light went off.
