I have a 2000 Johnson 50PL with the tilt leaking badly at the top seal and cannot remove the air. My efforts to remove the tilt from the motor so far have not been successful. I will get it off--- but then--- I have already run into a problem finding the proper rebuild instructions. I have never done one of these before but am fully capable of doing the job.

Does anyone know where I can find reseal instructions for this tilt/trim? The OMC factory(?) book I have does not even mention the tilt/trim, and yes it is the correct book. My searches on the web have only produced YouTube videos made by the shadetree mechanics association with maintenance practices beyond my comprehension. I also have not been able to find specs for fluid capacity and proper servicing which is very important.

Any help in finding the correct rebuild instructions will be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks: Non

Correct manual ??----You must be kidding.----I just looked at a factory manual and it has 33 pages dedicated to working on the power trim ./ tilt system.----Your manual sounds like it is needed in the wee house with the 1/4 moon in the door.----Factory seal kit might even have some instructions too.

C'mon guys! Your response does not have anything to do with the question. While the manual I have access to, admittedly, does not have a section on the tilt/trim, even though it is a copyrighted OMC shop manual, who can explain why it is left out----I won't try and it is not important. And, the fact that your manual does have a section on the tilt/trim is irrelevant if you cannot share with me what manual you have. By that I mean which publisher and just maybe where it is available.

There are a number of manuals out there but It does not seem prudent to order a manual when one cannot verify the complete content and how valid that content is. I haven't yet found where I can preview one before ordering.

Thanks anyway.

Post a picture of the front cover of your manual so we know which one you have. We are happy to help but need the information from you to help diagnose your situation.

Thanks lindy46.

Now we're getting somewhere. I had not seen that website before. From your info in your first post I can go with that.

Thanks again.
