What exactly is the function of the exhaust port circled in the first photo? Pulled my power head to repair steering arm and badly rusted upper engine mount and also a suspected exhaust leak after some diagnosing. What I found is that the mating surface on the powerhead below the upped mounts was severely corroded. In the second photo I encircled the area that this would mate with on the exhaust housing. There is enough of this power head base missing that it would not completely cover this exhaust port. If this port serves no function i was trying to figure a way to plug it or block it off so I can eliminate the exhaust leak when I reassemble. Any recommendations? I'm sorry I am at work and do not have photos of the actual parts but I will upload some when I get home.

bobcat, did you ever find a solution to this? I have the same motor and that corroded section of the powerhead under the upper mounts just fell out on mine. After reassembling water just leaks out of the front of the exhaust housing gasket. I'm about to pop it back off and see if I can seal that up.
