my motor is running at around 8000 rpm's in neutrel and it drops to about 6000 in gear and it keeps stalling out unless i hammer the gas. I need to adjust the idle up but on a motor with 4 carbs I don't know what screws are which any help would be helpfull. Thanks

I presume you mean that it idles at 800 RPM in neutral and 600RPM in gear? The idle speed on that motor is controlled by the timing. A service manual will describe how to set it and what it should be set at. There is a little plastic tab on the flywheel that is moved to adjust the timing. of course, you need to know which one is for idle and which is for max spark advance.

I ordered mine from the marineengine website. Have your model number handy. There are other web sites that will have it as well.
