I traced the incomeing oil line feed that hooks to a brass 3way T! It comes into the side and out the top to the resorvoir tank on top of the motor. I've noticed when its running,it drips slow drops of oil down the side of the motor! Is this normal? It looks like a hose should be pluged into the bottom of the T? It's makeing a mess is this normal? Thanks for any help.

Do you have a manual for the motor? I believe there are a couple of check valves in the system. That fitting may be one of them and if so, is likely the culprit. It is not normal to drip like that.

the manual is on the way! So your saying the brass T fitting has a check valve in it? It apears to be a normal brass 3way T fitting? It has the ridges on it like a hose should be conected! It's hight on the right side of the motor,so when it drips it covers the whole side of the motor with oil! This is what you get for paying people to fix your toys. Thanks for any input!

http://www.biggerhammer.net/mercury/factory_manuals/ This the manual.
You will need your engine Sr# but this will give you the parts. http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/PartsExpress/HomePage/homepage.asp

There should be a check valve there, that is an overflow line and the check valve is probably leaking. I looked at the parts manual but ehy did not show the checks valves, but if you have a T connection at the bottom of the onboard oil tank, it stands to reason there would be a check valve because the system is pressure fed off the block to the 3 gal tank to the onboard tank, then to the oil pump.
