Unbelievable, 210 Searay BR, Last year after only 40 hours of total operation this boat won't start, it runs perfectly for a while then the RPM fluctuate then die (5000-500-5000, then no start.

I Take it back in… they replace a Quick Silver sensor on the distributor, seems to run fine the rest of the summer.

Take it down south as a end of year blow out no problems, bring it out of storage in March of this year no problems.

Three weeks ago starts runs great, but on restart after sitting for a few minutes it does the RPM thing again, and dies WON'T START… wait an hour starts able to run the rest of the day normally (starting and stopping the engine).

July 4th on the lake firework show for the family boat starts great run out to the middle to anchor for the show, drift go to restart engine NO GO!! hour later boat starts get over to launch shut down, watch reaming fireworks… WON'T START again!!! Take battery in to local dealer who says that most likely using too much of the battery with a TV/VCR combo, load tests the battery…"good" but marine recommends putting in a dual system…

Test boat for an hour with flush kit, shutting down and running … no problem

Back on the lake Sunday, great day, get out on the water no radio or TV to be used, starts great, anchor for swimming, drift, WONT START again!!! Rules out battery… Replace Sensor that went bad last year on the water (droped on sensor screw was able to reinstall on land), no start.

Cleaning boat out 1 hour later to take in for service on this problem boat starts after screw was reinstalled.

Would that screw on the QWuicksilver sensor stop the engine... should I test on open water again, take to marine, or unlatch the trailer...? :

Do you have wing nuts on your battery terminal ends? If so get rid of them and replace them with lockwashers and even nylock nuts to keep those ends tight and connections sound. Also there are bulletins about bildge temps and vapor lock but that was a while back and I would Searay has dealt with it.Everyone else has.

I have to say, this can be a complicated problem... The first step is to check every ignition system connection. Start with battery cables. Remember battery cables have two ends. Make sure the end that attaches to the starter terminal & the engine block is clean & tight. Also check the connection at the main harness plug. Check for continuity from ground to the distributor housing. Remake the primary connections at the coil. Disconnect the ignition module connector & visually inspect the pins inside the connector. replace the coil wire(hi tension) even if only as a test. Check the coil for the correct part number(i have experienced this before)it may not be the proper coil. Do not overlook the keyswitch or the safety tether switch...
