2000 Crownline 205br with Mercruiser 5.7 EFI. Motor serial number 0L680833. So the last few times I went out I would run for about and hour or two and would beach for a awhile so the family could swim. I try to start it back up and it just cranks and cranks and does not start. I can get it to start by going forward neutral 1/4 to full and just feather back and forth and it will start however when I go back to engage the drive it will shut off again. Then I’ll use the same procedure to restart and rev the motors rpm in neutral just high enough above idle to engage forward and once it’s in gear it’s good to go again and runs great. I can go back to neutral again then shift forward and reverse and it will work fine.
I recently had it serviced with this issue and they put in a cap and rotor replacement kit, fuel filter and ign sensor. The service I recent service had done did t seem to solve the problem. Thanks for your time.

One other thing is that when we got back to the landing I told my wife to try to turn the key to the on position and wait a couple seconds and then try to start it and it started. I had her turn it off. I then had her restart it one more time and she didn’t wait and went in one motion and it didn’t fire and just cranked away again. Now that has me thinking did I just turn the key as well? Argh

Thanks for the serial number

When the key is turned to ON do you hear the fuel pump turn on for 2 seconds and 2 beeps?

When cranking and it doesn't start does the tachometer show at least 300 rpm?

Should be getting spark, so your loosing fuel pressure, needs checked.

Could also when it doesn't start have the flame arrestor removed. With no more then a table spoon of gas pour it into the TB. If it fires up, its fuel issue.

If you can get a noid light (auto parts store) and place on contacts on the fuel injector. When it doesn't start see if your getting flashes
