I just picked up a 2000 merc 20 hp today. I was wounding if I could make it a 25,30,or even a 35 with some simple changes. I do have 1999 25hp merc on my other boat and it seems more than 5hp bigger than this one if that makes since.
They should look identical except for a few cowling changes. The only differece is carb size, so to make your 20 a 25 you need to change carb, part #1390-817405T23

Carb change. Jet change. prop change. Anything that I could change to make my 20hp a 25hp or 30hp without changing powerheads. Merc. did make a 20 and 25 so I wouldn't think there would be alot to change for 5 more hp.
