Took my boat out of storage and prepared it for the season (wax, lube, etc). I launched it and got the engine started (2000 90 HP Merc Saltwater) and but when I pushed the controller to go forward, all the engine did was rev up. Same thing in reverse. I shifted the engine manually by moving the shifter on the engine.

I took the motor controller apart only to find that the leaf springs the preload the detent pin had flipped 90 degrees in their pocket. I took the entire thing apart, reassembled it and now it works OK. I found it really strange how this could happen over the winter as it was ok when I put the boat in storage.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,

Dale
