Hi, been working on a checkengine light on my optimax. The light will come on when i first start it up , but will go off after running while my friend parks the truck. I can run for a long time and no light. Shut motor off for a short time and start up again and the light will come on and mostly stay on.

I have changed the thermostats, cleaned the fuel injectors, direct injectors, also checked them with a ohm meter. Checked coils and battery, replaced impeller, and checked poppit valve. Any way to check the warning guage? Any other suggestions are very welcome. Thanks Larry

Welcome to iboats.

Check your direct injectors for a short to ground. But to the metal part of the direct injector, not an engine ground. Between the seal and o-ring, they're usually electrically insulated from the block. I don't think that's it, but they've been having so many problems with those that it's worth checking anyhow.

I'd guess your light has something to do with the charging system. But without a DDT, a guess is all it is. Make sure your battery connections are clean and tight. Make sure the throttle is at idle when you're cranking. You might want to check the cable adjustment to make sure it's getting firmly to idle.
