I bought a project boat last week and have been working on the 225 optimax trying to get it running right. It had been not used for 5 years so I had quite a bit of work to do. This is what I have done so far.
1 cleaned out the vst tank
2 cleaned all 12 injectors
3 replaced the spark plugs
4 replaced fuel lines and filters from tank back.
5 verified oil pump and tanks are working correctly.
Here is my dilemma ..the engine starts easy and idles perfectly. goes in and out of gear nice. will accelerate until I hit somewhere around 3000 rpms then the tach falls back down and the engine looses power and I have to return the throttle back to smooth out the engine. No alarms are sounding, and the alarm does work....No warning lights from the 4 light cluster
Any ideas??
