So, Last Sunday I go to take my 2000 sea ray 240 sundancer out on the water. Everything was working great. Starts right up and purring like a kitten. Once I made it out of the no wake zone, I gave it gas, and it wouldn't make it past 15 knots or 3800 rpm, even at full throttle. I turned around went back to port and checked the outdrive. There wasn't anything around it such as crab lines. It didn't seem to be skipping or making any unusual noises like it was a spark plug or something. And it didn't appear to have any excessive buildup on the bottom, or on the outdrive. Had it out two weeks ago and it ran great. Yesterday 7/25/15, I replaced all the plugs and wires, along with cap, rotor, and fuel water separator. Took it for a test ride and still only got up to 20 knots with just me on the boat. I was reading that it might be a spun prob, but it just seems like i'm just running at half throttle for some reason. Everything is working as it should other than that. Keep in mind I usually cruise at 25-28 knots at 4200 rpms with around 6 people on board. Chesapeake Bay.

Welcome . . .

Best if you tell us what you got for engine/outdrive (serial number of engine is good as well), then folks can give more specific advise.

Do a cylinder drop test; pull one plug wire at a time note any changes?Check throttle operation.
Check choke/primer operation. It appears your down more than the equivalent of one cylinder.
