2000 seapro 255cc johnson 250 oceanpro weak reverse

When i put it in reverse it engages fine but then i have no rpms b/c the trottle is all the way down, prop is turning but just in idle speed with trottle all the way down. It like theres not enough room on trottle to give it more rpms. any help would be appeciated thanks

Its probably the shift cables. a nice engine like that needs a genuine factory shop service manual . Setting up the shifter cables is simple by the book.

agree shift cables or connections in shifter box or engine

it shifts fine into reverse but does not have much trottle in reverse

I think everyone is right about the cables. Cable might be stretched..Disconnect cables at motor and try manually..If it is the cable before you pull it out to replace check the control box. Cable might have disconnected..
