I have a Bayliner 2655 cierra with a 2000 5.7 GSI and a new DPSM leg. 1020 hrs on the engine. 50 on the leg. Previous leg catastrophicaly failed, lost all of its oil on plane.
My engine has an oil leak that I haven't tracked down, but u religiously check it daily or twice if I'm cruising far. It uses 500 mL on a hard day.
Recently I left it with an empty tank for 30 days. After filling it I had issues with water in my fuel. Lugging, low power etc. Swapped the fuel seperater and it was soon running OK.
I always run the engine that 34 - 3500 rpm, watching my fuel flow meter to set the pace. Today while cruising at 1600 rpm it suddenly bogged down and stalled. The temperature was fine and the oil level was still topped up.
I had a lot of trouble getting the engine started and had to use the throttle. It will run at an idle that sounds rough and smells rich. If I try to increase the throttle to 1200 it will pulse up and down. Any ideas what's going on?

welcome aboard

could have crud in the fuel system. what is the fuel pressure?

I would find where the source of water entering your fuel system is.

Thanks for the tips, turned out my low pressure fuel pump was dying. $1000 for the Volvo single piece fuel pump assembly.
