Yesterday i had my boat pulling son on wakeboard and lost outdrive power. engine was fine but when trying to engage prop no rotation when put into forward or reverse? Best bet to pull outdrive and start process of elimination?

HMMM -- Lots of possibilities

Could be the shift cabling & hardware , drive, engine coupler , or prop hub

You should be able to to o a few checks on the trailer or in shallow water

With the engine off -- and the shifter in drive -- the prop should spin by hand in 1 direction with a ratchet type noise // and not spin in the other direction // same thing for reverse but opposite directions

Does that happen ? -- If so the shift cables & HW are probably not the culprit .

In order of probability:
1.) Prop Hub spun
2.) Shift cable broke or disconnected
3.) Engine Coupler spun
4.) Upper Gear Set gone (usually from low oil level)

Hope it's 1 or 2.

Was there any burning rubber smell and/or smoke from the engine house? Any other symptoms you can remember?
