I have a new 2001 suzuki df70 and am having problems getting it started. I turn the key and wait for the buzzer to go off and then turn, it will turn over but wont fire. It happens when warm or cold. Anyone with the same problem? It takes a while to get it started but once it starts it runs perfect.
Thanks

Hi, O2B.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Assuming that you have pumped your primer bulb sufficiently, I suggest that you refer to your Service Manual for diagnosis of the low and high pressure fuel pumps. The non-return valve in there may be faulty.

Good luck. :)

When you say it "takes awhile but it starts" - what exactly are you doing to get it started? Are you using the neutral throttle button (or high idle lever is a side control)and advancing the throttle? If so, that's your problem - do not advance the throttle do start this engine as it is fuel injected.

Re: 2001 df70 starting problems

just turning the key to on, waiting for the buzzer to go off, and turn the key to start. Took it out theis weekend and the primer bulb was not full, so I changed it and called the local shop. They said that I must squeeze the bulb everytime before I go out. This is the first time I have ever heard ot this. I've had a 15hp suki and a 200 hp merc and never had to squeeze the bulb. Is this something new for suzi's?

You should only have to "prime" it (squeezing bulb) once per day. But yes, you at least have to do that.

If your bulb keeps going flat while running, then you have a restriction in your fuel tank vent.

My oil change light came on (blinking oil light), I have changed my oil, but how do I reset the gauge to turn the blinking light off?

Thanks!
