I have a 2001 Ficht 175 that won't start. Everything ran fine last time out about 1 month ago. I had a small kicker motor mounted to the boat and just last weekend I removed it along with the controls and steering cables that ran through the same tube under the floor as the main engine harness and everything else. Boat has full tank of gas.
Now I turn the key on and wait for the alarm to beep and the lights to cycle through, then turn the key to the start position and nothing, not even a click. I check voltage at the solenoid and I have voltage from the battery but nothing on the wire coming from the key switch (yellow wire orange stripe). So I then think it could be the neutral position switch. I check the wire (yellow w/orange stripe) under th console coming out of the throttle and I have 12 volts there. So I start tracing back. I go back to where that wire comes out under the floor before it goes through the transom and check it there...I have 12 volts. Thinking that possibly that wire is bad from that point to the motor, I then take a new wire and jump from that point to the solenoid and boom the motor cranks but won't start. I then also notice that the choke is not working when I press in on the key. I also think if memory serves me correct that when you turn the key on you can usually hear the fuel pump run and I'm not hearing that.
I am wondering if possibly I could have nicked a few wires when I was pulling the cables while uninstalling my kicker motor. I was very careful when doing so and didn't feel any snags but...
Also I did have the computer rebuilt in July of 09 so I wouldn't think that would be an issue as I have probably only put 50 hours on the motor since.
Any suggestions?
