Hi everyone, I purchased a 2001 Evinrude Ficht Ram very cheap knowing it had a blown 586518 EMM. Fault # 37 then series of 8's fatality. No ignition. I've been hunting around for a replacement on e-bay and reading a lot of forum posts and seem to be getting conflicting information. The DFI technologies website shows 586484 as a possible upgrade/ replacement but most I've seen are all off v6's. I've also seen 586724 EMM's for sale starting they will work on the 2001 V4's. I do have a registered copy of EVdiag and can perform an EMM replacement.
Question 1: would the newer model 586724 EMM's be more reliable then replacing my EMM with an original 586518?
Question 2: Can the 586724 be used on a 2001 V4?
There seem to be a lot more 586724's available out there and a bit cheaper than the 586518's.
I spoke with MarineComputerSupply and he told me the series of 8's was not repairable and he didn't currently have another 586518 as a core to repair for me. That's why I'm hunting down different options.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated and thanks to everyone in advance.
