Good Morning Everyone, last season my boat seemed to be surging when at WOT. This year I had the carbs rebuilt and when taking it out on the water it seemed to stop at 2000 RPMs and won’t plane out, could it be the temp sensor putting it into SLOW mode?

thanks

Your question is quite straightforward. Yes the temperature sensor can send a signal and put you in slow mode.

Thank you, is there a proper way to test it or should I just disconnect it and see how it runs?

I had a similar issue with the surging at WOT, a carb rebuild, including new (plastic) float bowls (which were warped) and some fine tuning of the carbs while on the water solved the issue. Mine was also not wanted to get up any more than about 2k rpms until the carbs were adjusted after the rebuilds.

SweetD How did you tune them on the water? Is there a specific screw, mine don’t seem too easy to get to, almost as if I have to take the side cowling off just to adjust the bottom 2 carbs?
