2001 Merc 15 Hp impellor questions

Hello, I have a 2001 Merc 15hp 2 cycle with about 20hours on it, I store it upright and have maintained it indoors.
I run in fresh clear lakes in Calif.
Yesterday I took it out and noticed the stream from the impellor was intermitent, strong then drippy for a second then strong, then drippy for a second. After running at wot for a couple of minutes its strong all the time.
Then after restart in an hour, it repeats the strong/drippy until it go to wot.

Is the impellor going and how easy is it to replace?

I had the same problem and pulled the lower unit off last weekend it's a fairly easy job but I recommend getting a manual if you haven't done it before. While you've got the lower unit off clear the water tube out with compressed air or a hose from the tell tale and replace the impellar and gasket while you're there.
