Hello All,
New to the group as a poster. We have a 2001 GL 5.0 with an SX out drive. A few days ago I noticed a bit of power steering fluid in the bilge. Traced down a leak to one of the hose fittings on the PS cooler and repaired that leak. Since then no leak but I am worried that the PS motor may have been compromised from running for an afternoon with low PS fluid. The engine now makes an odd noise that is not constant. Does not sound like a grinding or a belt slip but I can not rule those out. The PS motor pulley will move just under 1mm front to back when the belt is of and the pulley is pushed or pulled. It does not have "slop" or make a noise when rotated. Video shows the PS pump side of the motor and the noise happens twice. Any thoughts? PS pump needs to be replaced? Some motors just make noise?
