2001 Robalo 2240 w/ Merc 250hp

looking at 2001 robalo 2240 walkaround (same as the r235 model). comes with a 250hp merc efi and a 9.9 honda 4-stroke kicker. 2002 trailer.<br /><br />supposedly, entire package has no more than 12 hrs on it. guy bought it new in '02 and has used it very little. talking with the guy, i believe him.<br /><br />his dealer is trying to sell it for 9k more than he is now offering it, which is $34k. based on comps, it looks like an unbelievable deal.<br /><br />any advice on the boat, motors, or price would be very apprecited. i may be headed on a road trip next weekend to jump on this if it's a good deal.<br /><br />thanks-

I can't see the dealer selling it for $9k more...even with only 12 hours on it. What's it going for new?

with no options, avg value is listed at $30.5k with a 200 hp engine. an extra 50 hp, the 4-stroke kicker, options, and condition... i think that makes it a good deal. most of the other robalos i could find in that class were running $39-44k.

yeah, mellow, the 24' you posted is a good comp. i found them running from 39-44. not sure on the warranty thing.

if it were me Matt, I'd try to buy the old one<br />without the motor for about $10K and have a brand <br />new motor with warranty mounted... but I'm cheap

well here's a weird twist- i'm looking up the guy's ad again last night and now i see he raised his asking price from $34k to $44k. he's now asking what the dealer is on his ad. i emailed him, asked what happened, and told him i was not interested with the new price. he responds and says my price is still the original $34k.<br /><br />am i too optimistic that i found a super deal, he realized it and raised the price based on his dealer's advise, but is still willing to give me the original price? or is something going on here?

i changed my mind at the last moment. never headed up to look at the boat. i'm going to give it a few months until i decide what i'm doing (staying navy or getting out). once i know where i'll be living in the next couple years, i'm back in the market.<br /><br />the boat is still for sale at his elevated price. if it doesn't sell, i may make another pass at it for a discount this winter.
