End of last season had oil changed by dealer - D70 4-Stroke is the cleanest engine I have ever owned. I have probably 40 hours on it this season averaging 5mph on the back of my pontoon. Change oil light is coming on after it starts with the tone. I tried the reset procedures mentioned in the forum i.e., put the key into "on position" the starting tone goes off for 2-3 seconds then using some pliers I push in the red kill switch and pull it out 3 times within 7 seconds.
I have tried putting the key into the start position and doing the 3 kill switch on/off when the tone is still going on and no luck.
Oil is full, doesn't smell burnt, and is right at the top of the stick so its got oil
So after the above process, I put the key into the ignition, turn it on and the boat starts, the pee is flowing through the motor and it starts strong and runs for about 5-10 seconds then the oil alarm and light comes on then the alarm ends but the oil light stays light. If I goose the engine a bit in neutral the rev light kicks in.
Being on a pontoon, its a royal pain to haul to a dealer.
What I would like to do is see if I can reset the Oil alarm till the end of the season - September and have the dealer give it a once over just to make sure. However, I will haul her in as I don't want to burn the motor up.
Any thoughts?
